Help with camera lens filters?
Hi, I just started with DLSR photogrpahy and I was looking at buying some lens filters to add some interest to my photogrpahy.
I have a couple of questions.
I am using a pentax K-x DSLR body with the smc DAL pentax lens (18-55 and 50-200 mm) I believe both of these lenses have a 52 mm lens thread? Is that right?
Second question is, what are the different types of lenses I could buy? What are their names and what to they do to the picture? IF you had a link to some images showing photogrpahs that use different types of lens filters that would be great,

You really only need two filters for your lenses.
1) A Haze/UV filter for both to protect the front element of the lens.
2) A Circular Polarizer. This is used to darken a blue sky and remove/reduce glare/reflections from glass, sand, water, snow and painted metal - but not polished metal.
Remember this: "A good filter isn't cheap and a cheap filter isn't good." So choose from Hoya, Heliopan, B+W, Tiffen.
You are correct that both lenses use a 52mm diameter filter.
A good microfiber lens cloth should also be added to your shopping list.
