Is It Possible For A Mini Van To Have Power? The 2010 Honda Odyssey Does

Honda’s 2010 Odyssey is an efficient minivan that handles almost like a car and can seat eight people. It’s not the most glamorous car to make a grand entrance with ever but hey, it’s a minivan and designed to haul kids to after school activities and consumers who are interested in this car are very aware of that fact. The styling of this vehicle is modern and contemporary with 18” alloy wheels to complement its appearance. Certain trims levels even come equipped with a power tailgate which makes it super easy to load and unload heavy cargo. This vehicle available in four different trims, LX, EX, EX-L and the top of the line Touring model.

The engine that propels the Odyssey is a six cylinder 3.5 Ltr with a total output of 244 hp and 240 lb feet of torque. This may not seem like a whole lot but it’s actually very powerful for a minivan and the most powerful in its class. Gas mileage stands at 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the freeway. This minivan handles exceptionally well, it drives and feels just like a regular car out on the road.

The interior shows quality craftsmanship and the materials used throughout are of high grade. The cabin has designed to be well insulated and remains quiet even at fast speeds. The driver’s seat can be adjusted in ten different positions. If you opt for Honda’s satellite linked navigation system, you also get a super cool feature called “Song By Voice” which allows you to switch up the music by using simple voice commands and enables you to keep your hands safely on the steering wheel at all times.

There are three rows of seats which can be adjusted for even more space. Standard features include an air conditioning system, power windows and a telescopic steering wheel. There is an optional navigation system available can be directed by using voice commands and it has the ability to provide restaurant reviews and menus in addition to the regular traffic updates.

As you would expect form Honda, a large variety of safety features have been included. The anti lock braking system works in conjunction with the electronic brake distribution system which help to maintain control when the driver brakes abruptly. Active head restraints protect the neck and help to prevent whiplash during a collision. Vehicle Stability Assist adjusts understeer and oversteer. There is even an optional camera available which can be very helpful when the driver attempts to parallel park. A tire pressure monitoring system is also in place which lets you know when your tire pressure needs to be corrected.

This minivan is would be a good match for people who want a functional and practical vehicle that can seat up to eight people. What the Odyssey brings to the table is a good amount of power (for a minivan), excellent handling and Honda’s well known reliability which translates into superior resale value. The starting cost is around $24k and increases depending on the trim and options you select.

Are there turbine engines that burn gasoline?

Do all turbine (jet) engines burn kerosene ? Is it possible to have a jet engine that would engine that could run on gasoline? I am thinking about building a small jet engine to fit in a car. This would seem a practical alternative to the piston engine: more efficient, less moving parts, better weight to power ratios, no need for pollution controls that run up gas mileage, a lot quieter.

Chrysler tried this back in the 1960's. They built 50 gas turbine cars and accumulated more than a million miles of test data. Among the test results that they accumulated is that the engines would run on just about any liquid that could be burned. One car sent to Mexico was actually made to run on tequila!

Big problems encountered during the test were noise, fuel economy and exhaust emissions. When the program was discontinued, all but a handful of the cars were scrapped. There are still a few of the cars to be found in museums around the country.
