My father has a 6.5 onan generator that cranks but dies when the start button is released.?
My Father has a Onan genset that stops running when the start button is released. We have replaced the pC board with a known good one. It's getting fuel and generates as long as button is held in. Any help would be appreciated. Plenty of fuel and oil level is correct. Thanks
Oil pressure switch is bad.
There should be a single wire attatched to a round sensor on the side of the engine with a small nut.
Disconnect the wire from the pressure switch just to see if that is the problem.
Don't run it too long without replacing the switch, otherwise you could completely ruin your engine if there realy is no oil pressure.
