Do Brass Fittings and PVC Fittings have the same thread convention?
NPT, etc.
In most cases yes, however there are NPT(National Pipe Thread) ,Compression, Flared, and HT(Hose Thread) brass fittings. Most PVC fittings are NPT, although you may find HT and very small compression pvc fittings at some hardware stores. The link below may help.
