I have a Fluval filter and the o-rings sometimes have a hard time creating a water tight seal. Is there anything I can use to put on the rings that will help create a seal? I have heard there is a gel based silicon liquid that can be used? Does anyone know what it is called or any other suggestions?
Obviously make sure the o-ring is positioned correctly. Silicon based lubricants are used to keep o-rings moist and help create a good seal, they are safe in the aquarium and many online retailers carry them. They can also be used to lubricate your impellers. If silicon lubricant is not available, olive oil has worked very well for me in the past.
