Gen Tran Power

Building a 350 to be well over stock?

It's a gen 1 350 with a 40 over bore and 9 to 1 pistons and a 650 edelbrock thunderforce Avs carb and a voctor jr intake. . I was wondering what the highest intake cc I could look at. I want afr heads and they range from 180cc to 210cc. Is bigger better in this case or is it an exception when I'm looking for low to midrange power? Ya know, that explosive jump off the line? I've got a th350 (3 speed) trans with a stock converter btw. Thanks

Jesse

Those AFR heads are great, and the 180's will have higher velocity at lower RPM's so they are probably what you want. Get some good cam selection advice from a manufacturer. Bigger is not better for a street driven car, so don't fall into that trap.
A good torque converter and the right gears in the rear end will help you use all that new found power well. You might also consider a manual valve body so you can shift when you want to. A built 700R4 might be you next step so you can still cruise it on the highway.
