Is this engine temperature normal?
2000 chevy cavalier, 55K now, recently the temperature gauge goes slightly over 195F(center scale) when driving on local roads or stopping at traffic lights, but back to 195F when speeds pick up. I think this is normal Today, I drove on a hilly highway for about 2 miles, the temperature went up (in the range between 1/2 and 2/3), when I returned to local roads, the temperature did not drop, but kept around 2 spaces higher than 195F. The fan is working when temperature is high, the coolant level is normal, I had a coolant flush 1.5 years ago. Is this normal or should I replace the thermostat? I did not see the temperature in this range before.
